CASS COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Cass County Sheriff’s responded to a single vehicle crash located on Brownsville Street in Calvin Township on Friday, June 3, at around 3:53 p.m.
The driver of the vehicle is identified as 70 year-old Juanita Defay of Benton Harbor MI. Defray was driving east on Brownsville Street, when she veered off the roadway striking the northern guardrail for Christiana Creek.
Her vehicle then flipped over several times landing upright in Christiana Creek. Defay had to be pulled from the vehicle by emergency personnel.
Defay was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and alcohol was not a factor.
Defay was transport to Lakeland Niles Hospital by Edwardsburg Ambulance.
Assisting at the scene were Penn Twp. Fire Department and Michigan State Police, Niles Post 53.
