KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) –Matchhead Coffee, a third wave coffee shop with a focus on community, is set to host its grand opening this Saturday, November 20 from 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
The shop is located in the heart of downtown Kalamazoo at 209 South Kalamazoo Mall, where the former Mangia Kitchen + Bar space was previously operating.
The new coffee shop is also an affiliate of Radiant Church.
Officials say he concept for the coffee shop was born out of a desire for a place that sparks something on the inside of each person that walks through their doors.
“Whether it sparks a new friendship, business opportunity, or a new creative idea, the hope is that the shop is a space that facilitates creativity and community,” officials wrote in a press release. “The shop features a large, open seating area designed to provide space for collaboration and an unhurried environment.”
Matchhead will be open Monday – Saturday from 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
The shop features Onyx Coffee as the main roaster.
Basic offerings will include batch brew coffee, iced coffee, a traditional espresso menu (including lattes, cappuccinos, etc.), tea and seasonal specialties.
All syrups will be made in-house, and pastries are sourced from Kalamazoo-based vendors.
